Celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month

The Rochester West Indian Festival Organization, Inc.(RWIFO, Inc.) and Rochester Jamaican Organization Inc.(RJO, Inc.) promoting Caribbean culture in the Rochester community. June is celebrated as Caribbean American Heritage Month – during this celebration we hope to ensure that America is reminded that its greatness lies in its diversity, with Caribbean immigrants from founding father Alexander Hamilton, to journalist Marcus Garvey.

CAHM Events:

• Caribbean Film Festival: June 1, 8, 22, 29, 6 to 8 p.m., The Baobab Cultural Center, University Avenue.

• On Friday, June 15, 2012, The City of Rochester will recognize the occasion. Flags representing the over 30 Caribbean
countries will hang from the mezzanine at City Hall. Visitors and well-wishers will be treated to Caribbean culture through table
displays, performances and food tastings.

Sign up to represent your island – you will be provided a display table. The Rochester West Indian Festival Organization will also assist you in getting information.
